  • A number sequence follows a rule, with terms labelled T1,T2,T3,T_1, T_2, T_3, \ldots by position.
  • Arithmetic means a constant difference dd; geometric means a constant ratio rr.
  • The general term TnT_n gives any term from its position. Verify with T1T_1 and T2T_2.
  • For a linear sequence, Tn=dn+T0T_n = dn + T_0 with T0=T1dT_0 = T_1 - d.
  • To test whether kk is a term, solve Tn=kT_n = k and check nn is a positive integer.
